I'm not even going to claim I know what works or doesn't work for a Z on this one, but I can tell you this: On Miatas, the Mini hood scoop I posted pics of reduces coolant temps by a few °C, more at highway/fast speeds than slow/stopped, but there is a reduction in measured coolant temps all across the board. I don't see where anyone mentions anything about underhood temps with that setup, but mostly because all anyone that did it cared about was coolant temp. On the cars that the person just put some kind of vent over/around the turbo, they felt the hot air coming from the vents just sitting there, but I don't see where anyone ever noted any reduction in coolant temps. So on a boosted Miata with a FMIC, reducing underhood temps is a different goal than reducing running temp.
